This is the fourth installment of the U-Dot Digital Singles series. These two tracks are taken from a mini-disc recording of Continental’s final show on November 30th, 2007.
We’ve left the recordings pretty much unadulterated, save for a bit of EQ. You will hear a little chatting and shuffling in the background. It’s ok. It’s almost like being there.
A note on the show and these songs:
We wanted to do something different for the last show, so we arranged to play at Alliance Française de San Francisco, a French language school and cultural center. We secured a nice performance room and asked all of our friends to join us. Carta opened the show, and Christopher Willits played a DJ set.
The song "The French Alliance" is the first song of that final performance. We had never done anything quite like this live before, but doing new things was a bit of a theme for the evening. Anyway, I think the chaos dissolves quite nicely.
"A Double Odyssey" had been kicking around in the Continental universe for a bit and was a setlist staple in ’06 and ‘07. Odyssey was always a fun one to play live.
Both of these songs are a nice snapshot of what we sounded like those last couple of years.
